monday off from barriques. weird… was supposed to go to a uwmf work meeting on the updates to the pap and mammography guidelines. but it got cancelled, so i had some extra time on my hands. what did i do? i cleaned the living room. swept, picked things up, dusted (thanks for the crocheted rag, mom) while ‘six feet under’ was playing. i was going to vacuum, but ryan got home and we walked to video station with liza. and rented a movie we both had forgotten we had already seen. suppose that’s what happens when you live with nick for a while and regularly have double-feature nights. you forget all the movies you only half-watched.

i was inspired by the weather to start making hats again. trying to crochet, but as always when ‘crocheting season’ starts up again, my hats just look like tacos. which is not the goal. in my defense (and to boost up my ego again a bit), i was distracted by ‘finding forester’ on the tv (and i was a glass or so deep into a bottle of wine). didn’t actually get a hat finished, or close to finished. but i put forth a good effort. so that counts for something, right? right?

watching ‘lost in translation’ with fred and shannon (...and liza). took a short break to instruct fred on the steps to gift wrapping. his kind request to have me ‘wrap this’ gift was denied, though i felt it appropriate to teach him how to fish, as the saying goes.

just getting home parking my car and packing up my stuff to bring inside. went to ‘the time traveler’s wife’ and dinner with deniz. the movie was a whole heck of a lot better than i anticipated. i would highly recommend it, and not just to ladies. and best off all, we saw it at the 'cheap theater' on the west side, so the ticket was <$3. every city should have a cheap theater. they make me so happy.

watching ‘the life of david gale’. by myself. ryan and his folks came back from dinner & shopping right at the climax of the movie. kinda like they did when i was watching ‘pheobe in wonderland’ a while back. seems to be ‘their thing’. after the movie i riled myself up from what could have been a quiet evening. went with ryan and nick to ‘st. vincent’ show at high noon. not as good as i hoped. one band i’d say is better recorded than live.

movie day. my life is awesome now that netflix came into it. ‘amelie’ with fred. though fred is reading his new palahniuk book on the couch. so i suppose i’m watching amelie by myself. hadn’t seen the movie since freshman year of college. the french professor had our class over to her apartment to cook a french meal and watch the movie. ryan and i stayed in the montmartre district in paris, which is where amelie was filmed. the tour we took of the area pointed out a lot of places from the movie. i had many memories of the trip watching the movie.

movie time. watching ‘stranger than fiction’ with ryan (sorta) and fred (kinda) and picking away at some facebook stalking. sundays are a great day for multi-tasking.

connie schryver – ryan’s mom aka an angel from above – coming to pick up liza for two (two!) weeks. ryan has a bit of work traveling to do, and liza does much better in lake geneva with mr. & mrs. schryver than madison without ryan. ryan’s showing her his and fred’s new pride & joy: the liquor cabinet. no, not a hutch. no, not a china cabinet. a liquor cabinet. complete with illuminating lights. the house really is coming together just as nicely as anyone could imagine.

two 7:30s! TWO! that’s never happened before. as awesome as TWO 7:30s is, it is a bit bittersweet, too, because that means we are flying through time zones. flying through time zones back to the states. and away from europe. and away from vacation.

on the plane rome – detroit. two? three? (free) bottles of wine in. already enjoyed ‘forest gump’ – which was odd to have being played on the plane because we were quoting it was lacklan just days before – and moved my enjoyment on to ‘the hangover’. funny, but as per usual, not living up to the hype. the only movie that has ever lived up to the hype has been ‘mean girls’.

flight detroit – minneapolis. catching up in the journal. i went through one whole moleskine journal in the past month. tis the result of seeing, thinking, and feeling a lot i suppose.

just eating a little ice cream – cookies & crème with chocolate syrup. i started out the day with my party pants, but slowly removed them leg by leg throughout the day. nick and i (and i guess liza) spent the evening in front of ‘happy go lucky’ and a pizza from pizza hut.

watching a movie with nick, ryan, erin, and liza. i'm not even going to say what it is because it's so shameful. more shameful than 'eyes wide shut'. and i watched the whole thing. on a beautiful sunday evening; the first beautiful sunday evening of 2009. the start of spring, and i stayed at home. watching trash.

after nick's bday-a-palooza, nick and ryan both fled the area for the next night. having the house all to myself meant chocolate cake (courtesy of erin's baking), 'eyes wide shut' (and 'under the tuscan sun'; i have a soft spot for diane lain it appears), and not folding the bed back up into a couch. the chances are not good that i moved more than two times throughout the night. and i'm not ashamed.

girls night with erin and jen. we went to 'rachel getting married' at the cheap theater after a happy hour (half price - HOLLA!) at the sushi restaurant. the theater was pretty full, for a wednesday at the cheap theater. so i didn't actually take a picture because that is rude. so i took a picture of my leg instead, to show it was dark in there.

watching tv. nick ryan and i watched 'nick & norah's infinite playlist' (not as good as i hoped). afterwards the tv somehow ended up on top 50 best/worst plastic surgeries, or something tragic like that. uhmm. not sure how that happened... i commented to ryan on how sad it makes me to be watching tv at 7:30. he responded 'at least you're not playing brick builder on your blackberry'. touche.

i got sick. and when i get sick i get real pathetic. i watched 'must love dogs' (twice) until the guys came home and i got embarassed for watching 'must love dogs' (twice). nick was just realizing what awful thing was happening on our tv, which rarely moves from msnbc or colbert. 'carrie' was promply put in.
