immediate family christmas dinner. a wonderful evening, with good food drink and people. out at ocean aire in minneapolis. having an impossibly long dinner (is this what they do in europe) with ma pa bro and sis. drinks, appetizers, wine, dinner, drinks, dessert, coffee. we retired back to the house and treated my parents to all 600 or so pictures from our trip. what a fantastic night!

cooking dinner. scallops (on sale at sentry!) and broccoli with quinoa. had my first ever massage. at inner fire yoga. all geared up to have a nice evening – massage, cooking, relaxing. and then my car battery died. less than peaceful evening, turns out. car problems make me nervous and tense. good thing my insurance company paid for my massage, right?

night at home. watching ‘weeds’. got addicted. to the show. spent the afternoon with liz at ‘the christmas carol’ at the overture. took two or three times longer than usual to get back from the east side. madison seems to have a snow removal problem this winter. cooked dinner and settled in for an evening in the big green chair.

roommate dinner. baked lemon-garlic-pepper salmon, cumin quinoa, and sautéed broccoli. cooking with fred & shannon. ryan made it home in just the nick of time to join in on the eating. shannon cutting into the salmon. enjoyed the perfect dinner with wine and whiskey. the night quickly turned to game night complete with chutes & ladders and loaded questions.

at bunky’s café with the fam. i eat so deliciously when they’re in town. waiting for the waitress to take our delicious order. meg is a bit impatient with…well, waiting in general. and with my dad. he can be a bit of a teaser. meg playfully mid-whack over dad’s head with the menu. what a feisty little gal.

the family is in town! mom dad and meg (sans ryan) in from minneapolis for the thanksgiving weekend! we spent the early evening in the hotel sipping on chocolate wine before going to barriques for a wine tasting. at dinner at la brioche on the westish side of town. it came highly recommended by fred. we were happy customers. taking a peak at the beer list (oh too sleepy for more wine) as mom’s listening to meg tell a story of some sort.

having some dinner on my night off. quinoa with almonds, lentils, and sautéed vegetables. watching a tv show about coca-cola on msnbc. relaxing relaxing. all i want to do is relax. ryan fred katy and shannon went to the oak crest for a few drinks, but nothing sounded more appealing to me than slipping into pj pants, sitting in the big green chair in front of the tv, and eventually making some puppy chow (thanks for the recipe, mom). so that’s exactly what i did.

cleaning up after dinner. baked potato and brussel sprouts. usually i get real antsy when a baked potato is cooking, and eat ‘appetizers’ until i’m not hungry anymore when the potato is finally done. i played it right this time around and popped it in the toaster oven while i went to an hour long yoga class. perfect timing. roasted brussel sprouts with olive oil, salt, pepper, balsamic vinaigrette, and honey. the honey bottle says in big letters: ‘do not feed to infants under the age of 1’. not really sure why? but i guess i won’t argue.

making dinner. hummus-grape-almond-honey pizza. it may not sound delicious, but that is exactly what it is. jason made one of these back in my baldwin street days, and it was mighty tasty back then. i had been meaning to make it for a while now. when i saw grapes on sale at coops, i knew today was my day. cooked it up, and enjoyed it in front of ‘the us vs. john lennon’. oh, uh, and the weekend first-aid kit was slowly making its way back to the bathroom by way of the stove, it appears...

sushi dinner with some of the barriques staff! i really like my social time with my barriques staff. and it is much too few and far between. jess and i have been trying to have dinner for ages, and we finally (finally!) succeeded and brought a long a bunch of co-workers, too.

cooking dinner. roasted tomato and pesto marinara sauce to go with pasta. tasty recipe i picked up from either vegetarian times or eating well. it made a lot of sauce. a lot of sauce. i used the amount i needed for the box of pasta, and could have easily added three or four boxes of pasta. i have some awesome leftovers. for months.

yonderfest day 3. ryan kara jackie. jeremy, heather, katy, kay, and kay’s roommate, too. oooo – what good people. out to dinner & drinks at jolly bob’s in madison. a little light on the drinks for most of the table given the previous two days for most of ‘em. hearing about jackie’s law school life, and the cases she’s working on in st. paul. good people.

mmm…pizza. cooking up some pesto, tomato, mushroom, and mozzarella pizza. my allergies knocked me off my feet in a big way. ryan was ready to be moving and partying for his birthday. but i was hearing none of it. sick sick sick. me, my pizza, and ‘slumdog millionaire’ (god i love netflix) spent the night on the couch. good decision.

making myself some pesto. spinach-almond-garlic-parmesan-olive oil pesto. my favorite. mixing it in with gnocchi and veggies. still a favorite meal for me. and a quick quick meal, too. which is exactly what i need for a late start to my dinner. i picked up some potter’s crackers, and fontania cheese at the store for a personal appetizer while dinner was in the works. good idea, breanna.

willy street co-op dinner. fred and ryan are both out of town for the night. so i’m having a night at home by myself. my life gets pretty interesting/exciting in winter, so i signed myself up for a netflix subscription. things are going pretty well with that. in addition to dvds in my mailbox, i get to instantly view some movies online, too. so i spent the night with ‘he loves me, he loves me not’ and half of ‘paris, je t’aime’.

brenda and tom day!! the day brenda too became a BKH, too. a good day. a great day. at the reception with some of my best gal pals and their dates. after a day full of brochures, bubbles, vows, bubbly, buses, photos, and arbor mist (how’d that get there?) we are sitting and relaxing at ‘the fun table’. a status that was challenged by ‘the old person’ (read: parents) table. i don’t know who ended up winning, but all i can say is someone from our table is dating the girl that face-planted in the middle of the dance floor.

making some dinner at the hostel in amsterdam. no kitchen here, so while my traveling mates ryan, jenny, chris, michael, and bill murray opted for two lunches, i just went for one. which means a cheese and avocado sandwich for this gal. using the top of jen and my lockers as a cutting board. the dinner proved to be not enough later on during our ultimate party amsterdam pub crawl or whatever. so ryan, jenny, and i made a detour for pizza.

big day out in copenhagen. after over-celebrating jenny and jacob’s new place, we managed to not leave it until 5:30. went into tivoli – a big amusement park smack dab in the middle of downtown. having some greasy fair food. please notice the charming little gal over jen’s shoulder.

with jen jen! with jen jen! ryan and i landed in copenhagen early afternoon and were met by jenny & jacob. at a park just a few blocks from their place. cooking some dinner on the grill, having some wine and beer, the guys tossing around the (american) football, the gals catching up. perfect perfect perfect.

dinner out on the deck with the fam. the bro and the sis dishing up and digging in. grilled scallops and corn on the cob. a 'perfect summer dinner' as my brother said. indeed! and a perfect summer evening of conversation. always circling back to make fun of my dad in some way. he is such a sport.
